Conservatory Outlet Opens New Recycling Centre
Conservatory Outlet has continued its pledge to become one of Yorkshire’s most environmentally conscious businesses with the introduction of an inaugural Recycling Centre.
The Wakefield-based company officially launched the initiative at the beginning of January, having allocated space for the centre within its 60,000 sq ft manufacturing base and appointed a full-time member of staff to manage the project.
The scheme will see the Conservatory Outlet team collect scrap frames during deliveries to their UK-wide network of retailers, before they are brought back to the centre and arranged to be sent off to be made into new uPVC.
With Conservatory Outlet expecting to complete in excess of 2,500 deliveries across the year, the team are confident that the new centre will result in large volumes of uPVC being manufactured from recycled parts, in turn reducing the company’s carbon footprint.
The announcement follows news of a switch to a fully automated, paperless HR system in late 2019, which significantly reduced Conservatory Outlet’s carbon emissions by removing the need for excessive paperwork and filing.
Michael Giscombe, Managing Director at Conservatory Outlet, said he was pleased with the progress of the Recycling Centre thus far:
“Having our own Recycling Centre on site was something that we saw as absolutely integral to our plans of becoming one of the most environmentally conscious businesses in the region. The manufacturing sector as whole has made a huge effort in recent years to reduce carbon emissions, and we’re certainly no different.
“We’re thrilled to have the buy-in of our dedicated network of retailers across the country. We’re supremely confident that, with their help, we can make the Recycling Centre a huge success.”
