Is every composite door the same?
No. A standard composite door will normally have a depth of 44mm and feature a foam-filling. It will also have a GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) skin (commonly known as fibreglass) and be fairly lightweight.
A Solid Core composite door has greater depth at 48mm and consists of laminated layers of timber, which makes them far tougher and resilient than a foam-filled composite door. With its UPVC skin, you can colour match it to your door frame.
There will be a price difference between the two – your very experienced Retailer will be able to advise which composite door will best suit your home.
Can you have different colours on the inside and outside?
That can be arranged if you can’t decide between two colours and the easiest compromise is to have one colour internally and another colour externally, say for example if you wanted red on one side and white on the opposite side of the door frame. Confirmation of what you can do colour-wise will be given to you by your local Retailer.

How many keys will I receive?
You get 3 keys as standard with any of our doors – you can request additional keys upon placing your order with us, or have more keys made later, the choice is yours.
Is it possible to use the same key for both doors? (Suited)
That can be arranged. Tell the advisor when the order is being placed and they will get suited keys organised so that the same key can be used for both doors.
Can you tell me what Secured by Design is about?
In an effort to improve the security of buildings and their immediate surroundings, Secured by Design (SBD) was established, and it has the full backing of the Police. SBD’s product-based accreditation scheme – the Police Preferred Specification – is the recognised standard for products that can successfully deter and reduce crime and covers domestic windows and doors and their different components, like their locks, hinges etc. Conservatory Outlet has Secured by Design accreditation, so all the products that are stocked by our Premium Retailers fulfil SBD demands. Tell an advisor at your local Retailer if security is a major concern.
What is a 3-star rated door barrel?
A 3-star rated door barrel is the highest rated door barrel available and has come through the most rigorous tests to ensure that it can withstand break-ins. Each door cylinder has unique snap-secure technology with a lockdown mode to stop any compromising of the barrel.
Can a French door be completely folded back?
It can if it has an egress hinge in the design, which gives you the ability to fully fold the doors back so that you can fully appreciate your garden view.
Would you recommend I buy bi-folding or sliding patio doors?
If there is a large opening at the back of your home that a set of bi-folding doors or sliding patio doors can occupy, they’ll both give you the option of opening the house to the garden. A bi-folding door will completely fold back to create a huge garden opening. Sliding patio doors are renowned for their slim frames, so even in a closed position, they will give you a tremendous view. Your Premium Retailer can help you decide which door is best.

What do we need to do when our finance is approved?

What happens if finance is refused?
Finance companies can turn down people for lots of reasons, for example if you’ve moved several times over the past few years. In these circumstances, we always do our best to help and sometimes it’s worth trying another provider, especially if they know you.
I’ve applied for finance with a Premium Retailer. How long will approval take?
Sometimes our finance company will say ‘yes’ almost immediately and on other occasions it may take them a few days. This short delay can be for any number of reasons and you should not be unduly concerned.
