If you bought your conservatory some time back and it has a traditional glass or polycarbonate roof, chances are that it overheats in summer and feels freezing cold in winter. It’s frustrating, but easily resolved! In this situation, you remove the existing roof covering and windows, and replace them with the thermally insulating solid roof and energy efficient UPVC windows
New windows were also necessary to ensure that the windows didn’t collapse under the replacement roof, though it’s very lightweight anyway. You could pass it off as a brand-new conservatory to those not in the know. Since being transformed, it acts as a lounge/dining room.
There is a small glazed section with the lightweight tiled roof, and it plays such an important role in keeping the interior well-illuminated, making it feel even larger than it is. So that it could continue to be used at night, we also positioned spotlights within the internal pelmet, which emit a generous amount of light. Upgrading the old guttering was also an essential element of the redesign as it had become very tired looking and didn’t offer enough functionality. The final part of the project involved adding a fire to the conservatory to give it an extra injection of warmth during the winter months, not that it needs it.
