Although it’s stood for almost 100 years, Mrs Geall’s home looks very much like it did when constructed in the 1930’s. It has traditional leaded windows and cleaning them is a bit of nightmare, with this lack of maintenance coming at a cost, as draughts fill the house. She had been wanting to replace them for several years but was concerned about doing so due to the windows being mullioned.
Mrs Geall's
Eclipse Aluminium Windows & Solid Roof Extension
A modern reinvention of a very grand 1930’s property.
With her leaky leaded windows posing a constant problem, Mrs Geall turned to our slimframe aluminium windows for a solution.
Mrs Geall valued natural light, so it was something that needed to be considered when looking for a suitable replacement window. Our recommendation was windows from our Eclipse Aluminium collection, with each window in the range prioritising glass over frame, giving the sun a vast expanse to force its way through. Because they’re manufactured using an aluminium profile, they’re also easy to clean.
The biggest passion of Mrs Geall is painting watercolours and to do this successfully at home, she notified us of her desire to transform her extension into a studio. This would only be possible if the insulation standards of the space were improved, which called for the installation of a tiled roof.
The leaks have now disappeared from the house, and it’s become a more peaceful place for Mrs Geall, both because of the new windows going in. She’s no longer anxious about operating her windows, like she was with her old windows, worrying that they might completely fall out. Her heating costs have also decreased, and a year after the window installed, we returned to give them a performance check.
